Health Benefits of Coffee

Besides providing the necessary energy boost, coffee helps in preventing diabetes and lowers the risk of certain diseases such as liver disease. Thought that is quite amazing all by itself, coffee has many more benefits and luckily, is considered one of the most consumed beverages in the world.

Coffee for a decreased risk of diabetes

According to science and research, coffee helps protect the body from developing type 2 diabetes. First of all, caffeine increases the plasma levels of a protein hormone called globulin (SHBG). This hormone is in control of the activity of testosterone and oestrogen. Now, as both play a role in developing type 2 diabetes, it balances it out so that our bodies can function harmoniously.

With many conducted research over the years, it has been proven that coffee reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes by 11% over a period of 4-years. This is only by consuming 1.6 cups a day. Paired with adjusting your diet and integrating an active lifestyle, one could potentially heal the illness completely, or at least reduce it immensely.

The effect of coffee on Parkinson’s disease

With the results of more conducted research, there has been a link between Parkinson’s disease risk and coffee consumption. Apparently, a higher caffeine intake corresponds with a lower risk of Parkinson’s disease. It can also help control the movement of people that suffer from the disease, allowing them to have more control over their body.

Coffee for your liver

While some might think that caffeine could potentially harm your organs, when consumed in moderate amounts, it is quite the opposite effect. Drinking it regularly lowers cirrhosis in the liver. In the case of alcohol consumption, it is effectively reduced by 22%. Research shows that drinking more than two cups a day could lower the risk of death caused by cirrhosis by 66%. It also reduces the risk of cancer and lowers it by 40%. I don’t know about you, but the odds of not getting these diseases with only a few cups of coffee is totally worth it.

Coffee and heart health

Coffee protects your heart against heart failure. Drinking about two cups a day could lower your risk of heart failure by a total of 11%. Be sure to consume it moderately and no more than 2-3 cups a day as too much coffee can cause heart palpitations and increase anxiety levels.

More benefits include protection against cirrhosis, reduced morality, it helps prevent premature death, it reduces risk of multiple sclerosis and protects your body against colorectal cancer.

Coffee has an unlimited amount of benefits and above all else, only has about 2 calories per cup. It also has an array of antioxidants which adds to further benefits such as reducing your risk of stroke, It keeps your brain sharp and not to mention tastes damn good.

How to Lose Weight with Coffee

Weight loss has always been one of the most talked about topics in society. Especially amongst women. The Diet and Fitness industry has made millions, if not billions, of dollars in the past few decades whilst promoting diet pills, supplements, diet and fitness books such as the Atkins diet, the Paleo diet, vegan and vegetarian diets, and more.

Every day, there are new fads and diet trends. All of which include unnatural and unsustainable methods to lose weight. They usually work for a while, but the problem is, once you stop it, your body ‘yo-yo’s, back to either your previous weight or worse. People tend to get frustrated which results in them going even more extreme than their previous diets. Ultimately, the effect that it has on your body could become very dangerous. For instance, if you decrease the number of calories you consume as opposed to what is required from your BMI, you could potentially lose bone mass and if you’re a woman, be at risk for bone diseases like osteoporosis.

The natural approach to weight loss is always better and recognized as one of the most effective ways to losing weight, coffee, is preferred.

Coffee is a beverage that has been highly underestimated for its abilities to help you to lose weight. It naturally prevents weight gain, curbs appetite, and speeds up your metabolism.

Tips on how to lose weight with a simple cup of Joe

  1. Drink it in healthy amounts

Coffee, taken in small amounts, temporarily suppress appetite and stimulates calorie burning. If, however, you exceed the daily recommended intake of coffee, it could result in insomnia and increased stress levels. Ultimately, this could lead to overeating and is thus not recommend to those who want to lose weight. An appropriate intake will be either 1 or 2 cups per day. To get all mathematical about it, you shouldn’t be consuming more than 400mg.

  1. It is important to space out coffee times

To reap the most benefits of coffee as a weight-loss tool, you have to time it correctly, rather than drinking too much in the morning. This could make you feel lethargic and disrupt your metabolism, resulting in a diuretic effect.

  1. Choose half-caff

Now that doesn’t sound fun at all, does it? Hence, it will help switching to a slightly more decaffeinated coffee. This will allow you to drink more coffee throughout the day and not leave you feeling sick after. It will also allow your body to receive metabolism boosts at more regular intervals. It is thus, more effective. An excessive amount of coffee can also result in dehydration. If you’re not planning on switching to decaf, be sure to drink at least 500ml of water per cup of coffee you consume daily.

Coffee can be a wonderful, enjoyable weight-loss tool when used in the correct amounts. It isn’t bad for you, but like everything, too much of something can be bad for you. Fear not, paired with a balanced diet and regular workout routine, you’ll be losing weight in no time. Know More
